Mr. Jeffrey Pride “Putt” Phelps, was born on May 21, 1968, and departed this life on December 11, 2019.
He attended Greenville County Schools and taught himself many skills over the years that allowed him to be “the Jack of All trades”. He worked in various jobs in his early years, he was employed with Robert Piano Company for many years, there was never a job too big or too small for “Putt”. His skills also included baby sitting, taking care of the elderly and helping the homeless. “Putt” never met a stranger, that he would not help. He loved the Pittsburgh Steelers Football Team and was the life of the party, plenty of jokes and laughs.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Wofford; maternal grandparents, Marion Phelps, Sr., and Alberta Gaddis; paternal grandparents, Charles and Rozell Wofford; aunts, Alma Means, Jacquelyn Coleman, Linda Gail Belton and Beverly Brown; uncles, John Gaddis and Timothy Gaddis; great uncle, Benny Smith, Jr.; great-grandparents, Benny and Eliza Smith, Ruth Davis Phelps and Curtis P. Phelps.
Left to cherish fond memories; his mother, Bennie Mae Phelps of Greenville, SC; his stepfather, Larry Davis; two sisters reared in the home, Mashona Brown and Kim Phelps, both of Greenville, SC; two stepsisters, Charlene Davis and Shanna Davis, both of Greenville, SC; three brothers reared in the home, Andrieus Means, Shawn Coleman, both of Greenville, SC, and Marius Means of Seattle, WA; aunts, Diane Poole, Patsy Poole, Doris Gaddis, Darlene Garnett, Elaine Gaddis and Laura (Ronnie) Montgomery, all of Greenville, SC; uncles, Marion (Sylvia) Phelps, Jr., Charles (Shirley) Phelps, Maurice (Gladys) Gaddis, Mike Wofford, Valjean Wofford, Steve Wofford, Fred Wofford and Roy Lee Jackson, all of Greenville, SC; devoted friends, Anthony Patterson, George Bell, David Austin, John Richey, Terrance Griffin and his little cousin, Isaiah Gaddis; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends, Parker Street, Cripple Creek, Washington Street and Brutontown Families.
