Jerry has been summoned, his name has been called, he has crossed over the meandering stream, he sojourned up the alpine way, he has left his footprint in the trackless air of time, and he now rides in the chariot of the Refiner’s fire on the celestial wings of the wind.
Mr. Jerry “Son” Flemming was born to the late Dupree and Teomie Chapman Flemming on March 25, 1956. He was preceded in life eternal by two siblings, Alice Ann Flemming Irby and Benny Lee Flemming.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories, three children: Tori Turner of Greenville, SC; Courtnee Young of Monroe, NC and Leslie Chiles of Greenville, SC; three grandchildren, Tavyria Farr and Symari Richardson, both of Greeenville and Maya Young of Monroe, NC; four brothers, Rev. E. Dupree, Otis, Rev. J.M. (Lillian), and Robert Flemming, all of Greenville, SC; and two sisters, Ethel Clay and Teomie (Michael) Yeargin, both of Greenville.
Jerry also leaves four maternal aunts: Annie Bell Chapman Harrison, Doris Chapman Grady, Ella Grace Chapman Brockman and Louise Chapman McNeil, all of Greenville; one maternal uncle: Bobby Chapman (Mary) of Greenville; then he leaves three paternal aunts: Geneva Daniels, Doris Flemming and Georgia Thomas all of Piedmont, SC; and one uncle, Andrew Boyd, the surviving spouse of his late aunt, Odessa Boyd of Piedmont, SC; twenty-eight nieces and nephews, a host of great nieces and nephews, and other relatives.
Jerry attended Greenville County Schools and was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church in Pacolet, SC baptized by his brother, Rev. J. M. Flemming. Jerry shared a love of landscaping and beautification with his mother. He began his landscaping career at Verde Greens Golf course and retired from Brockwood Senior Housing as a Master Horticulturalist whose work was admired by many and he will be greatly missed. Called the “Favorite Uncle.”
