Jimmie Klugh

July 16, 1941 — March 24, 2018

Mr. Jimmie William Klugh, 76, of Greenville, South Carolina, departed this life on Saturday, March 24, 2018, at Greenville Health System. He was the son of the late Johnny Klugh and Mattie M. Walker Klugh.

He attended Sterling High School and was employed by the Greenville Country Club for 20-plus years, while starting his part time business. He went on to establish General Cleaning Incorporated, where he served for Greenville County throughout the years of his life. His work was admired tremendously that his business flourished through large companies such as George Coleman, Holly Tree Country Club, and John Perkins, to name a few. His hard work was exclusively known at both Long Branch and St. Paul Baptist Churches, where he maintained the facilities for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Jean Walker-Klugh; a daughter, Ruthie Ann Rhone; a brother, Moses Lee Klugh; and a sister, Lucy Mae Smith.

Jimmie was best known for his beautiful voice. He accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age, which he learned to share his love of the gospel through song. He loved to harmonize with various groups such as: Joe Chancellor and the Chancellor Singers, The True Gospelers, St. Paul and Long Branch Men’s Choirs. He was also known to be an endowed soloist, where you would hear him sing his favorite song, “Trouble in My Way”.

Left to cherish many fond and loving memories are his two daughters, Leslie F. Klugh of Capitol Heights, MD and Sherry Sanders of Greenville; three sons, Jimmy L. (Judy) Klugh of Greenville, Christopher (Arlah) Klugh of Lyman, and Jeffrey D. Klugh of Washington, DC; thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a sister-in-law, Bettye J. Klugh of Greenville; and a host of other relatives and friends.
