Mr. John Robert “Bobby” “Tappin” McGowan, Jr., 65, of Greenville, South Carolina, passed on his birthday, Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at his home. He was a son of the late John Robert McGowan, Sr., and Annette Simpson McGowan.
“Bobby” was a graduate of Wade Hampton High School and a veteran of the United States Army, having served for over twenty years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dwight D. McGowan.
Left to cherish many fond memories are a stepdaughter, Katina Nance of Simpsonville, SC; one brother, William Marvin (Brenda) McGowan of Travelers, Rest, SC; aunts, Johnnie Faye Cook of Anderson, SC, Dorothy Jackson of Phoenix, Arizona, Patricia Cason of Liberty, SC, and Genevieve “Genny” (James “Twine”) Thompson of Powdersville, SC; uncles, Larry (Helen) McGowens of Anderson, SC and Robert Bob” Simpson of Powdersville, SC; three grandchildren, Sykoria Mitchell, Kadesh Conway and Cheyenne Nance; niece, Tanandra Watts; nephews, Derrick C. (Cassandra) McGowan and Williams M. McGowan, Jr., and a host of other relatives and friends.
