John Thompson

Mr. John Alvin “Squirt” Thompson, Jr., 77, of 4 Pinefield Drive, Greenville, South Carolina, passed on Monday, May 11, 2020, at Prisma Healthcare. He was a son of the late John A. Thompson, Sr., and Elsie L. McIntyre Thompson.

He was a retiree of Winn Dixie Warehouse. Early in life he joined the Macedonia Holiness Church, later he became affiliated with the Bethel Methodist Church.

He was a member of the Little Texas Reunion Club, and was captain of the Crime Watch in the Community. He enjoyed playing baseball and quartet singing.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Christopher E. Thompson; a daughter, Nicole R. Thompson; and a sister, Deborah Sanchez.

Left to cherish many fond and loving memories are his wife, Joyce M. Richardson Thompson of the home; one daughter, Sabrina L. Thompson of Greenville, SC; one sister, Theasha Murphy of Charlotte, NC; one brother, Spencer (Diane) Thompson of Greenville, SC; two grandchildren, Victoria L. Thompson and Jazziniki S. Thompson; three great-grandchildren; an aunt, Vernetia Terry; an uncle, Robert Terry; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
