Ms. Josie Mae Jones was born in Anderson, South Carolina, on July 10, 1942, and passed away on March 5, 2018. She was a daughter of the late Alberta Jones and Otis Jones.
She attended Anderson County schools and was employed with J.P. Stevens, Parker Plant in Greenville, South Carolina until her retirement.
She was a faithful member of the Flat Rock AME Church family until the Lord called her home. She was dedicated to the ministries and provided physical, spiritual and financial support until her health declined. She was a committed member of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. She worked diligently at St. Peters AME Church as an affiliate member. She was willing to be of service unto the LORD, wherever, whenever, and however she could while it was day. She was also active in her community, and assisted families in need during illnesses and bereavement.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert Jones; a sister, Sebell Whitner; and a niece, Martha Ann Whitner.
She leaves to cherish many fond and loving memories, two daughters, Melissa Williams and Angelic (Terry) Gantt, both of Greenville, SC; one son, Brian Jones of Easley, SC; two sisters, Betty Downs of Easley, SC and Corrine Jones-Whitner of Cincinnati, OH; five brothers, Otis Jones of the home, Billy (Valerie) Jones of Pickens, SC, Casper Jones of Greenville, SC, Adolphes “Bill” (Mabel) Jones of Chicago, ILL and R.A. “Ray” Jones of New York; four grandchildren,; three great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
