Joyce Goolsby

Ms. Joyce Loretta “The Queen” Goolsby, 74, of Greenville, South Carolina, was born on January 14, 1942, and departed this life on July 2 2016, at her home. She was the eldest of three children born to the late James Allen Goolsby, Sr. and Virginia Blakely Goolsby.

Joyce was educated in the Greenville County School District. As she went on to further her education, she became a licensed cosmetologist. She was a Head Instructor at Chris Logan Beauty College and later opened her own salon, “Zacharya Hair Care Affair”.

Within twenty-four hours of her departure from this side, God dispatched his angels for her baby brother, Walter Lee Goolsby, Sr.. She was predeceased by her brother, James Allen Goolsby, Jr.

Ms. Goolsby leaves to cherish many loving and fond memories, one daughter, Sonya Goolsby of the home; two sons, Zachary T. Goolsby of the home and Charles (Laverne) McKinney of Greenville; reared in the home, a niece, Carmelita Burgess; a grandson, Jamario Goolsby and a great-granddaughter, Shakyrah Benson; three other granddaughters, Kenyell Worley, Shauna Benson and Krystle (Kadeem) Suber; one other grandson, Rashaud McKinney; one aunt, Carrie Blakely of Detroit, MI; eleven great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
