Judy Ann was born August 20, 1946, in Greenville County, South Carolina, to the late John and Evelyn Rhodes. She departed this life and proceeded on a journey to be with the Lord on Sunday August 13, 2017, at her home.
Judy was educated in Greenville County Schools. Early on in her life, Judy decided to pursue career opportunities by attending Job Corp., in Marion Virginia. At this point in her life, she met her first husband, to whom she was married for many years. She spent the biggest part of her life in Chilhowie, Virginia, as a homemaker, in addition to working several years at American Spinning Factory there in Virginia. Later in her life she returned to Greenville, re-married, and lived out the rest of her days working at the Governor’s School of the Arts, the Greenville Hospital System and various other establishments until she retired.
Throughout her life, she always had a passion for cooking, which later led her to own and operate her own restaurant. In addition to her love of cooking, she also had a love for people. Likewise, she was just as compassionate for dogs. After many trials and tribulations in her life, she decided to turn to God in 2012, and was baptized in April 2013, becoming a faithful member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Hewins; two sisters, Brenda Henry and Linda Arnold; her aunt, Vivian Williams; and a very special brother-in-law, Robert Henry.
She leaves to cherish fond memories, one brother, Anthony (Briggitt) Rhodes of Greenville; stepdaughter, Patricia Williams; four grandchildren, Tanazia, Jimazia, Montavious, and Ashton; four nephews, Jeffrey, Brian, Brandon, and Anthony Jr.; one niece, Brittany; two great-nephews, Omari and Jayden; three great-nieces, Navaya, Taylor, and Kinsley; two very special friends, Marie Valentine of Greenville and Libby Graham of Wytheville Va., and a host of other friends and acquaintances.
