Mr. Jurral “Roy” Hood, 65, of Simpsonville, South Carolina, departed
this life on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at Greenville Health System. He was a son of Carrie Ruth Sullivan Hood and the late Kenneth Frank Hood.
“Roy” was a graduate of Woodmont High School. He was formerly a Lead Material Inspector of Solvay Company (formerly Cytec, BR Amoco and Union Carbide); he retired after 42 years of service.
He was a member of Greater New Hope Baptist Church and Grace Communion International. He was a member of the Brotherhood Fellowship and the Men’s Choir.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth F. Hood; a brother, Kenneth Hood, Jr.; and his first wife, Carolyn Scott Hood.
Left to cherish many fond and loving memories, in addition to his mother, are his wife, Linda Hawthorne Hood of the home; one daughter, Tabitha Y. Hood of Atlanta, GA; two sons, Jurral (Tracie) Hood, Jr., of Concord, NC, and Patrick J. Hood (Anatasia Fetterly) of Woodruff; six sisters,Ernestine (Alfred) Lemon of Greenville, Cardury A. Blackwell of Seattle, WA, Frances (William) Henderson of Piedmont, Towanda Hood of Piedmont, Kelly (Leroy) Stoddard of Fountain Inn, and Vanessa (Dale) Robinson of Simpsonville; three brothers, Terry (Brenda) Hood of Indianapolis, IN, Clayton Hood of Junction City, KS, and LaVaughn (Melissa) Hood of Simpsonville; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
