Mrs. Latongia Kenyetta “Tinka” Pepper, 41, of Simpsonville, South Carolina, departed this life on Sunday, June 10, 2018, at Greenville Health System. She was a daughter of Elvis and Shirley Carter Groce.
Latongia earned a Bachelors Degree in Physics and a Masters Degree in Information Technology. She was a dedicated employee as the Curator of Physical Science at the Roper Mountain Science Center.
She was a member of the Reedy River Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as a deaconess, a Children’s Church Advisor and a Vacation Bible School Teacher.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lucile Keith, George Carter, Jr., and Lillie Groce; great-grandparents, Gussie M. and Randall Glover; and an aunt, Juanita Storey.
Left to treasure her life here on earth are her husband, Marcus C. Pepper of the home; parents, Elvis and Shirley Groce of Greenville; two daughters, Caitlyn Pepper and Camille Pepper, both of Simpsonville; one son, Christopher Groce of Simpsonville; two sisters, Shavada (Darrell) Lee of Fountain Inn and Tywana M. Groce (Dominic Mellette) of Greenwood; six aunts, Brenda F. Jackson, Lisa Carter and Barbara D. Garrett, all of Talledega, AL and Linda F. Pearson, Mary N. Rock and Racheal Carter, all of Lincoln, AL; five uncles, Willie B. Carter, Richard Groce and Bobby Pearson, all of Lincoln, AL and John E. Carter and Greg Jackson, both of Talladega, AL; father-and mother-in-law, Rev. Grover and Margaret Pepper; two sisters-in-law, Charmaine (Stacy) Byrd of Mauldin and Frinnie (Eric) Hyler of Wilmington, NC; and a host of other relatives and friends.
