Mrs. Laura Mae “Big Mama” Sherman, 81, transitioned to her Heavenly home on Friday, April 15, 2016. Born in Marietta, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Lindsay and Georgia Adams.
She was a former member of Mountain Grove Baptist Church and later was affiliated with Latter Glory Ministries. She loved arts and crafts, and was a great seamstress.
Laura Mae Sherman was an Ambassador to our family who loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and everyone that she met. She was honored that God graced her family to possess the gifts of preaching, teaching, evangelism, singing, and so many other talents. She taught us that we must love God and always put Him first in our lives, love yourself and others, and that only what we do for Christ will last. We will miss our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and daughter in the Kingdom, however there is blessed assurance that we will see her again if we make Heaven our destination. You can't crown Him until we get there.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Sherman; daughter, Judy Adams; brothers, Thomas, William and David Adams.
She is survived by: daughters, Minister Valerie Sherman of Columbia, Minister Loretta Lane of Greenville, Doris Choice of Travelers Rest, Susie Daniel of Greer and Shirley Cruell of Greenville; sons, Luther Sherman and Jerry Sherman, both of Greenville; sister-in-law, Yvonne Adams of Columbus, GA; grandchildren, Quintin Sherman, Osha Lane, David Lane, Aliviah Foster, Sh’vada (Travis) Grayson, Sharonda (Neil) Davenport, Gloria (Dominique) McClain, Karen Cruell, Brian Cruell, Kimberly (Gerrad) Bristol, Jerry (Lateice) Sherman, Jr. and Joshua (Andreana) Adams; numerous great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
