Lenora Simpson

December 31, 1969 — January 12, 2017

Lenora Jackson Simpson was born September 29, 1922, in Easley, South Carolina, to the late Acquillious and Lizzie Jackson. She was educated at Blakedale Elementary and Simpson High Schools. She married the love of her life, Porter Simpson and moved to Connecticut. From that union four children were born, Belinda (who predeceased her), Ronald, Sandra and Beverly.

Lenora, affectionately called “Granny,” enjoyed traveling. Las Vegas, New Orleans, Hawaii and Nova Scotia were some of the places she traveled, as well as her annual trip to New Jersey with her sisters-in-law known as “The Golden Girls.”

She was a faithful member of Mt. Aery Baptist Church and served sixty years on the Usher Board. Granny loved spending time with her many friends, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her brother, Acquillious (Johnnie) Jackson of Easley, SC; her sister-in-law, Mattie Laws of Bridgeport, CT; her son, Ronald (Beverly) Simpson of Northford, CT; two daughters, Sandra Simpson and Beverly Blank of Bridgeport, CT; four grandchildren, Joseph Wright, Jr. of Shelton, CT, James (Tiffany) Raiford, Brandon (Shani) Blank of Bridgeport, CT and LaQuetta Simpson of Northford, CT; six great grandchildren, Kassandra Raiford, Camryn Blank, Jordan Blank, Braydon Blank, Xavier Blank and JaeLyn Belle; son-in-law, Joseph Wright, Sr. of Shelton, CT; special daughters, Beverly Bumpus, Valerie Trusty, Cheryl Curran, Sandra Tate and Tanisha Bundy; special best friend, Cora Barnes of Powder Spring, GA; and a host of relatives and friends.
