Mr. Lonzo Vance “LV” Sloan of 401 West 2nd Avenue, Easley, South Carolina, departed this earthly life on February 12, 2017, after a brief illness. He was born on February 14, 1931 in Easley to the parentage of the late Gene and Jennie Blake Sloan.
He attended Simpson High School in Easley and joined the Easley Chapel United Methodist Church at an early age. He was active in the church and was often called to help prepare meals for his church family. He sang in the church choir and was a member of the Sensational Gospel Seven. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retired brick mason.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Kanzadis Smith Sloan; one son, James Martin Sloan; two sisters, Beatrice Sloan Rucker and Ruby Sloan orr and two brothers, Felix and Charles Sloan.
He leaves to cherish many fond and loving memories, two devoted sons, Rickey Sloan of Easley and Stanley (Mary) Sloan of Greenville; four devoted daughters, Vickie Ledbetter, Almeta (Henry) Gaines and Jacqueline Smith, all of Easley, and Cynthia Smith of Greenville; a devoted grandson, Travis Sloan of Easley; one sister, Glenda Sloan of Easley; one brother, Henry Sloan of Bridgeport, CT; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren; one uncle, Lindsey Blake of Easley and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
