We, the family, know that Heaven is a beautiful place. God called Mamie Virginia Thompson, to her new home on Sunday, October 15, 2017. What a glorious day for reunion and rejoicing!
Virginia, as she was called by family and friends, was an inspiring, warm spirited, gracious, gentle-natured, friendly, neighborly and caring person. Early on during her occupational career she worked as a Nursing Assistant with the Greenville General Hospital System. Later she worked for Providence Gerard Packaging Company, and Mack Molding Packaging Company, where she eventually retired. She was a devoted member of both Queen Street Baptist Church and her home church, New Hopewell Baptist Church, located in Belton, South Carolina. She was the President of the Nursing Home Committee, an active member of Seniors in Action and was a very faithful Missionary member.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Twine Thompson; one son, Ithames Thompson; three brothers Douglas and Ceaphes Coleman and Joseph Chapman and two sisters, Annie Mae Telford and Frances Lewis.
Virginia leaves to cherish fond and loving memories, her daughter, Betty J. Thompson of Taylors, SC; three sons, Philip Thompson of Chesterfield VA., James (Genevieve) “Twine” Thompson of Easley, SC and Willie E. Thompson of Greenville, SC; one sister, Dorothy Dean of Belton, SC; a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, church family; friends and a special friend, Mr. Robert Williams.
Virginia was a God fearing Christian Woman of Virtue. We have the Blessed Assurance that she is with God. All of the pain and worry is over; No Doubt, No Fear, No Anxious Care. She is now at peace, forever at home in Heaven at last.
