Mrs. Marian Elizabeth “Mena” Perry, 76, of Greenville, South Carolina, departed this life on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at McCall Hospice House. She was a daughter of the late Clarence Anderson, Sr., and Mary E. Blythe Anderson.
She was a 1960 graduate of Sterling High School and retired from Greenville Hospital System 25 years of service. She was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church where she participated in the Mind’s Class, Usher Ministry, former member of the Pastor’s Aide, the daughters of Long Branch and the Eastern Stars.
Marian was very active in the Mind’s Class. Her work was always neat and complete as she had learned to do at Sullivan School and from teachings of Mama Nez, her aunt. Marian received many certificates and awards in class especially her portrayal of an African Tribe. Person Marian was very kind person shown to Mrs. Viola Irby Williams.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sloan Perry, a daughter, Kathy Renee Rivera, a son, William Henry Morris, a granddaughter, Dominique Rivera, a grandson, David Rivera, a brother, Clarence Anderson, Jr. and a sister, Inez Elaine Brockman.
Surviving are two daughters, Angela Carol (Agie) Green of Piedmont and Pamela Yvette Wright of Greenville; one son, Michael Courtney (Veronica) Morris of Greenville; one sister, Barbara Sue (James T.) Sullivan of Greenville; one aunt, Willie Stean Duckett of Greenville; a cousin raised in the home with Marian and her siblings, Johnny L. Blythe; seventeen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. She loved her baby “Coco Chanel”.
