Mary Sue Downs

Mrs. Mary Sue “Put” Downs Sherman of Easley, South Carolina, was called to her eternal rest on Sunday, March 12, 2017. Born in Piedmont, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late James and Ruthie Mae Breazeale Downs.

She joined Fairfield United Methodist Church at an early age. “Put”, as we all knew her, was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J. V. Sherman; and four aunts, Mazzie Miller, Marie Pickens, Lillie Hagood and Hester Cannon.

Mary leaves to cherish many fond memories, a daughter, Sharlotte Sherman of Easley; sons, David Downs of Greenville and Billy Downs of Taylors; one sister, Mamie Smith of Greenville; one brother, James Downs of Greenville; two grandchildren, Mary Whitner and April Sherman of Easley; one great-grandchild, Isaiah Young; best friend, Veola Ferguson; special caregiver, Sharan Barksdale and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
