Master Jakob Coleman

December 27, 2014 — April 12, 2019

Master Jakob Elijah Coleman, 4 years old, of Taylors, South Carolina, gained his wings on Friday, April 12, 2019, in Carlsbad, CA, surrounded by family.

Jakob was born December 27, 2014, in Greenville, South Carolina, to James and Natisha (Casnave) Coleman. When Jakob was born he came ready to play. “Play what”? You might ask. “Catch up”, catch up with his siblings so that one day he would be the boss. Within a few blinks of an eye, we went from holding and snuggling with a little baby to him walking and giving demands. (Now it might not have happened that quickly, but you get the point. Insert laughs). See it started with some tummy rolls, then he was able to sit up, then he learned to crawl, and around 9 months of age he began to walk, and this was the spark to his adventurous little life.

Have you heard the saying “that kid has been here before”? Well, that was Jakob! Jakob loved to help out around the house, his mom would often tell him babies don’t clean up. Jakob always replied with “I’m not a baby, I'm big”. He loved to vacuum, fold clothes and getting the mail (sometimes in his undies). Jakob was a strong fearless little kid with the perfectly contagious smile. He loved to play outside with his siblings and his dear friend Jackson. Jakob enjoyed riding his bikes and scooters. He was very driven, he learned to ride his bike without training wheels shortly after his 3rd birthday. He took interest in planes and often talked about being a pilot when he grew up.His hobbies included driving and racing his model cars, fishing and watching YouTube. He did not know how to read or spell, but he was as an expert at finding things on amazon and loading the shopping cart. He loved fast cars and he was able to remember some models, as he would point them out in passing. He loved all cars, but his ultimate dream car was a Lamborghini. Listen here, the boy had expensive taste! Jakob’s favorite color was yellow, and that fit him so well because he was the sunshine in our lives. He had the whole family wrapped around his little fingers, someone was always at his rescue. His favorite animal was a lion, and he definitely had the heart, as he was the bravest little guy we have ever known. He loved to eat, and favorite foods were pizza, fried chicken, tacos and shredded cheese!

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Melvin White, great- grandmothers, Betty Casnave and Dorothy B. Walker; and great- grandfather James L. Coleman.

He leaves to cherish precious memories: his parents, James and Natisha (Casnave) Coleman; one brother, James L. Coleman Jr.; and two sisters, Jamya C. Coleman and Jasmyn J. Coleman, all of Taylors, S.C; two grandmothers, Margaret Casnave of Benton Harbor, MI, and Gloria Coleman of Spartanburg, S.C; his grandfather, Willie Coleman of Pine Bluff, AR; three great-grandparents, Lionel Casnave, Thomas and Annie White, all of Benton Harbor, MI, and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
