Mrs. Mercia Morgan Calvin, 70, of Greenville, South Carolina, departed this life on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at St. Francis Hospital (Downtown). She was born in Detroit, Michigan, and reared in Greenville, the daughter of the late Theodore Morgan and Dorothy Brockman. She was married to the late Willie Van Calvin.
She received an associate degree in Business and retired from Boomer Construction Company in Detroit, after thirty-three years of dedicated service. She was the chairperson of New Washington Heights Community Association, Inc., former president of Happy Hearts Recreational Center, a volunteer supervisor of New Washington Heights Stay and Play Free After-School Program and a member of United Way Greenville Dreams.
Left to cherish many fond and loving memories are one daughter, Bonita Morgan of Greenville; four sons, Theodore “Randy” Morgan of Greenville, Doni (April) Calvin of Birmingham, AL, Albert (Clarice) Calvin, Sr., of McCalla, AL and Curtis Calvin of Columbus, OH; a half-sister, Miriam Young of Kansas City, MO; a brother-in-law, Jimmie Calvin of New York; a sister-in-law, Armie Louise “Bit” Calvin of Birmingham, AL; ten grandchildren, Johnny Calvin, Albert (Jerice) Calvin, Jr., Derrick (Allison) Calvin, Jemecia (David) Claxton, Delvetra Calvin, DeAndre (Jan) Calvin, Chanese Calvin, Cameron Calvin and Corey Calvin; sixteen great-grandchildren; a very special aunt, Ida Brockman of Detroit, MI; and a host of other relatives and friends.
