Mrs. Minnie Ruth Coleman-Dendy, 79, affectionately known as “Granny”, was the daughter of the late Herman Butler and Corine Butler Wright and widow of Charles Coleman Sr. and James Dendy. Born March 4, 1936, she was a member of the Rock of Ages Baptist Church and was part of the Willing Workers Ministry until the ministry dissolved.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ms. Barbara Coleman, and her brothers Mr. Robert “Toosie” Butler and Mr. Claude “Bill” Butler.
She leaves to cherish fond memories three sons, Deacon James Butler and Deacon Charles (Alfreda) Coleman, both of Greenville and Mr. Stanley Coleman of the home; four daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth “Ann” Davis, Ms. Linda Coleman, Ms. Mattie Coleman, all of Greenville. Dorothy “Makie” Coleman of the home; three grandchildren raised in the home, Demetria Coleman, LaBarbara Coleman, and Breyana Coleman; three brothers, Mr. Herman Butler, Mr. Willie (Betty) E. Butler, and Mr. Horace (Amelia) Butler; four sisters, Mrs. Mattline Manigan, Mrs. Lillie Mae (Ben) Whitner, Ms. Willie F. Butler, and Mrs. Janice Beaty. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral Service: Saturday April, 4, 2015, 12:00 Noon at Watkins Garrett & Woods Mortuary, with burial in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
