Sister Minnie Ruth Mims Booker, was born on September 1, 1932 to the late Mr. Henry Mims and Mrs. Ebbie Allen Mims. She was married, August 3, 1952, to Rev. James Booker, Sr. & they were married for 60 years. Sister Booker went home to be with the Lord, June 21, 2018.
Sister Booker accepted Christ at an early age & she joined Rock Hill Baptist Church #1. She was a helpmeet to her husband as he held the pastorate at the following churches: Meadow Fork Baptist Church, Travelers Rest, SC; New Prospect Baptist Church, Princeton, SC and Calvary Baptist Church, Greer, SC. Sister Booker was active with the Greenville and Vicinity Interdenominational Ministers’ Wives and Ministers’ Widows Alliance, the Rock Hill #1 Deaconess and Ministers’ Wives Ministry and the Rock Hill # 1 Senior Missionary Ministry, until her failing health.
Leaving to cherish her memories are her daughters, Joyce Fruster of Piedmont, SC, Valerie (Gregory) Neely of Greenville, SC; a son, Rev. James (Shaunsa) Booker, Jr of Greenville, SC; a sister, Isabella Todd of Greenville, SC; six grandchildren, Fred (Cestine) Latimore, Angela Harris, Seth Booker, Reginald Neely, CaSandra Booker and Zachery Neely; six great-grandchildren,two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Nanny Mims and Mrs. Dorothy Mims Gantt; her caregiver, Ms. Clair Moore; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. James Booker, Sr., her daughter, Carolyn Ann Booker (Robert) Walker; brothers, Rev. James Mims, Mr. Paul Mims and Rev. Silas Mims; sister, Ella Mae Watson.
