Mr. M J Logan, 89, born on April 22, 1933 in Simpsonville, South Carolina, departed this life on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville, South Carolina. He was the eighth of ten children born to the late James “Gene” Papa Logan and Daisy Bell Gaston Logan.
He married the love of his life, the late Helen Foxx Logan. Their union lasted for 50 years until her untimely demise.
M J joined Lower Shady Grove Baptist Church at a young age and was a member for over sixty years; where he served as the president of the Senior Citizens Ministry.
He was a mason for over 56 years with Laurel Creek Lodge #332; where he was appointed Tyler. He was the best ever in District 3 and was Tyler for all 5th Sunday sit-ins.
M J was a dedicated and hardworking man. He retired from John D. Hollingsworth after 35 years of service.
Left to treasure many fond memories is his last brother, L J Logan; a special and devoted niece, Brenda M. Murray whom he cherished, along with her deceased brother, Ronald (Ronnie) Montgomery; a caring niece and nephew, Cora T. Caldwell and Johnny Eugen Thompson; a long-time friend for over fifty years, Mrs. Lillie Mae King and her late husband, Mr. Lewis King; another long-time friend, Mr. James Jaby; his special friend, Ms. Mary Joe Williams. M J loved his family, he valued his forty-five nieces and nephews, his great nieces and nephews, and his great-great nieces and nephews; his Mason brothers at Laurel Creek Lodge #332; and a host of other family members and friends.
M J was preceded in death by eight siblings: Levonia “Sadie” Walker, Tom Walker, Carrie Logan Thompson Brown, J L “Nub” Logan, Frank Logan, Corather Logan Montgomery, O.K. Logan and Mary Ellen Logan Wilson.
