Morris Hall

Dr. Morris Frank Hall peacefully departed this life on Monday, December 30, 2019. He was a son of the late Abby Crosby Hall and the late Elmer Thomas and Geneva Turner Hall.

Dr. Hall was educated in the School District of Greenville County having been an Honors Graduate student in the Sterling High School Class of 1960. He later matriculated to Johnson C. Smith University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree. He furthered his education at Howard University College of Dentistry where he received a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. In 1995 he earned the Academy of General Dentistry Fellowship.

While he served the community for over 45 years as a partner in Hall and Hill Family Dentistry, early in his career he was a middle school Science Teacher in the Norfolk Virginia School System, a Clinical Instructor at Howard University College of Dentistry and a Staff Dentist for Greenville County Health Department. After retirement he was a staff Dentist for the South Carolina Department of Corrections for four years.

Dr. Hall was a faithful lifetime member of his beloved John Wesley United Methodist Church having walked with his grandmother as a child to clean the church prior to Sunday services. He was a member of the United Methodist Men, John Wesley Male Chorus, the Young Adult fellowship Choir and served faithfully in many leadership capacities including the Church Administrative Counsel, Board of Trustees, Endowment Committee, Pastor Parrish Relationship Committee, Church Study Committee and the Church Bus Committee.

Dr. Hall’s professional and civic achievements were many. He was a life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.; charter member of Delta Beta Boule of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity; American Dental Association; Academy of General Dentistry; National Dental Association; South Carolina Dental Association; Piedmont District Dental Society; Palmetto Medical, Dental and Pharmaceutical Association; and the Group I Investment Club where he served as President.

Having a servant’s heart, Dr. Hall made time to give back to his community and state by providing service to the following organizations: South Carolina Board of Dentistry, Disciplinary Committee; Contact Dentist for the late Senator Ralph Anderson – South Carolina Dental Association; Humanitarian Dental Care Mission in Jamaica (Great Shapes); Greater Greenville Chamber of Commerce; Greenville Technical College Foundation; Medical University of South Carolina Board of Visitors; and the Phillis Wheatley Association.

Left to cherish fond memories are his wife of twenty-five years, Angela A. Hall of the home; two sons, Morris Gamble Hall of Summerville, SC, and Antar Gamble Hall of Brooklyn, NY; three daughters, Tiffany Chapman, Brandie (Marcus) Gilmore, both of Simpsonville, SC, and Kelly Hall-Tompkins of New York, NY; a brother, Thomas (Teresia) Hall of Jacksonville, AL; two sisters, Freddie Kelley and Vera Dillard, both of Greenville, SC; his mother-in-law, Rhudine Adams of Greenville, SC; four grandchildren, Ariana, Austin, Camden, and Lauren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
