Mother Annie Ruth Johnson Easterling, daughter of the late James Johnson and Everlean Johnson, was born in Wilkes County, Georgia, on March 19, 1945, and departed this life on January 19, 2019, at home in Easley, South Carolina. She was the loving wife of the late Thomas Easterling, Sr., who preceded her in death.
Annie Ruth graduated from Clearview High School, Class of 1964. In 1965, she moved to Mt. Vernon, New York, where she met and married Thomas Easterling, Sr. They had two children, Thomas Easterling, II, and Samantha Ann Bolden. She worked at Allstate Insurance Company and later relocated with her job back to Easley, South Carolina, where she later retired. She was a very active member of John Wesley United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the choir, the Red Hat Club, and head usher on the usher board.
She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Diane Butler and Linda L Johnson Haney; and a brother, Willie James Johnson, Jr.
She leaves to cherish many fond and loving memories: a son, Thomas Easterling, II, of Gainesville, GA; a daughter, Samantha Ann (Lee A.) Bolden of Easley, SC, sisters, Evelyn Johnson of Greenville, SC, Karen (Rickey) Jefferson of Easley, SC, and Helen Harris of Greenville, SC; four grandchildren, Shyanna L Pennie, Jaquan Teague, Shayla Webb and Trevion Williams; one great-grandson, Tayvion Hezekiah McDowell; godchildren, Herbert Dempsey and Herlonda Dempsey; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
