Mr. Owens Williams, Jr. “Big O”, 73, of Piedmont, South Carolina departed this life on Friday, October 14, 2016, at Regency Medical Center of St. Francis Downtown. He was born in Greenville, SC, and was a son of the late Owens and Sadie Lucille Chapman Williams, Sr.
Early in life, he attended Flat Rock Baptist Church and later joined the family home church at Shady Grove Baptist Church. He attended the Greenville County Public School System. Graduated from Bryson High School in 1962. He was employed by John D. Hollingsworth Company, The Furman Manufacturing Plant, Fiber Industries, ending his work career for twenty two years at Michelin Tire Company. (M.A.R.C)
He loved working with his hands, taking things apart and putting them back together, his way, in order to improve performance. Mostly cars and motorcycles. He found his greatest joy in restoring a 1954 Chevrolet Truck. He also rebuilt a motor engine in a 1963 Volkswagen. He was a car enthusiast, a Gardener, a Bowler for thirty plus years and a wonderful “fix-it-man” around the house. He loved music of the 60’s, 70’s and old time gospel singers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Owens Williams, Sr. and Sadie Lucile Williams and a baby brother, Michael Williams.
Left to cherish many fond and loving memories are his wife, Jacqueline Humbert Williams of the home; daughter, Tamasin W. (Nathan) Cuttino of Columbia; son, Owens (fiancé, Shana) Williams, III of Greenville; sister, Bernice Young and Carol Bennett, both of Piedmont and Shirby Pitts of Greenville; six grandchildren, Rene Williams, Danielle Williams, Owens Alexander Williams, IV, Hayden Williams, Brooke Williams, and Courtney Williams; two great-grandchildren, Neriah and Arya Williams and a host of other relatives and friends
