Ozzie Watson

November 11, 1939 — February 26, 2019

Mr. Ozzie Watson, Jr., was born on November 11, 1939, to the late Ozzie Watson Sr., and Lucy Grace Watson of Greenwood, South Carolina. He attended South Carolina State College served in the United States Army and later graduated from Lander University. He was a Mason and also a member of the VFW Post 6734 of Greenville, South Carolina. Ozzie retired from Fieldcrest/Cannon Mills and later returned to work for General Nutrition of Greenville and Anderson, South Carolina.

Ozzie loved cooking, fishing and helping others, but his most loved joy in life was his family. Ozzie truly enjoyed the fruit of his labor. No matter what the situation, he always tried to find the positive in everything. Ozzie was a family cook, a family counselor, a family handyman and a family financial advisor. He loved family gatherings, and he truly got a joy out of cooking and watching others eat.

Ozzie was a faithful member of St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church, where he once served on the finance committee.

Ozzie leaves to cherish many memories, his wife, Earlen Brown Watson of the home; one daughter, Cheryl Watson of Greenville; three sons, Eric Cue, Keith (Darlene) Watson and Bryan (Michelle) Watson, all of Greenville; two grandchildren reared in the home, Daanquashe` “Shay” Grant of Fountain Inn, and Tyree Watson of Greenville; one sister, Peggy L. Watson (Marion) Simpson of Greenwood; four sisters-in-law, Coressa Watson and Celaine Watson, both of Greenwood, Mary Alice (Joe) Leaphart of Decatur, GA, and Inell Robinson of Fayetteville, GA; three brothers-in-law, Robert Brown Jr., of Burlington, NJ, James (Ann) Brown and Calvin Brown, both of Greenwood; fourteen other grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his four brothers, Roy Mac Morton, Mac Arthur Watson, Michael Goodwin and William Henry Watson.
