Corporal Phil Romel Smith, Sr., 74, of Greenville, South Carolina passed on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at St. Francis Hospital Downtown. He was a son of the late William Hampton Smith, Sr., and Patsy Griffin Smith. He was married to Thelma Ruth Byrd Smith for 50 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Melissa (Andre) Barbee of Lillington, NC; one son, Phil Romel Smith, Jr. of Greenville, SC; six sisters, Kathleen (James) Williams of Mauldin, SC, Claudette Adams of Simpsonville, SC, Eleanor Glenn of Winston Salem, NC, Olivia Wright, Rosa (Frankie) Jones, both of Greenville, SC and Cheryl (Isaac) Johnson of Simpsonville, SC; four brothers, George Hampton Smith, Sr., William E. (Kay) Smith of Easley, SC, Fredrick Ricky (Louise) Smith and William Hampton Smith, Jr., both of Greenville, SC; one grandchild, Joshua Donnell Diggs; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends,
Funeral Service: Friday, March 25, 2022, 1:00pm at Watkins, Garrett and Woods Mortuary with interment at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
