Reverend Calvin Clinton Stewart, Jr., 83, of Greenville, South Carolina, departed life on this side to go to his Heavenly Home on Friday, December 23, 2016. He was a son of the late Dr. Calvin Clinton Stewart, Sr., and Mrs. Georgia Valentine Stewart.
Rev. Stewart was a graduate of Sterling High School. He attended Morris College until he was drafted into the United States Army. Later he graduated from the American Baptist Theological Seminary with a degree in Theology. He worked for many years at the old Poinsett Hotel. He pastored the First Baptist Church in Hartwell, Georgia for three years and Bethlehem Baptist Church in Simpsonville, South Carolina for twenty-one years.
He was preceded in death by his parents: a brother, Lloyd Stewart and a sister, Ella Jewell Stewart Jackson.
Left to cherish many fond memories are his loving wife, Mrs. Genell Shell Stewart of the home; a daughter, Alfreda Meco Stewart of Simpsonville; a son, Cedric Keith Stewart of Remshalden, Germany; a sister, Nancy Jocelyn Stewart of Greenville; a brother, James Russell (Arizona) Stewart of Greenville; two grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousin, other relatives and friends.
