Reverend James Mims was born, October 9, 1923, to the late Mr. Henry & Mrs. Ebbie Allen Mims. He was educated in Greenville County Schools. He was married to the late Mrs. Levada Jones Mims. He was absent from the body and present with The Lord, April 1, 2015.
Reverend Mims held the pastorate at Wilson Creek Baptist Church, Iva, SC. He also pastored at Zion Hill Baptist Church for 39 years until his retirement. He was employed at Stone Manufacturing, where he retired. Reverend Mims was a member of the Baptist Ministers Fellowship of Greenville & Vicinity and the National Baptist Convention. He was also a member of the North Enoree Baptist Association.
Reverend Mims served our Country in the United States as a Staff Sergeant, 1944-1955. World War II - Battles and Campaigns: Normandy; Northern France; Ardennes, Rhineland - The infamous Battle of the Bulge; Decorations and Citations: American Theater Medal; Eamet Campaign Medal with four Bronze Stars; Good Conduct Medal AR600-68, Victory Medal. Korean War - Decorations and Citations: Korean Service Medal with 5 Bronze Service Stars; National Defense Service Medal; United Nations Service Medal; Good Conduct Medal.
Reverend Mims leaves to cherish his memories: sisters, Isabella Mims Todd and Minnie Ruth Mims Booker, both of Greenville, SC; a special friend, Murtis Thomason of Greenville, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Reverend Mims was predeceased by brothers, Paul Mims (Nannie Mims) and Rev. Silas Mims (Dorothy Mims Gantt).

Funeral Service: Sunday, April 12, 2015, 2:30 PM at Watkins, Garrett & Woods Mortuary, with burial in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
