Hellams, Reverend Jesse Lee Jr. 60, affectionately known as Peter Rabbit gained his crown Wednesday June 26, 2024 surrounded with love. Born December 25, 1963 in Greenville, son of the late Jesse L. Hellams Sr. and Mattie L. ( Williams) Hellams of Greenville, South. Carolina. Proceeded in death by parents, sister Bridgette Nance, brother Jody Hellams Sr., nephew Chrishaun Hellams, sister-in-love Ursula Y. Rose, and brother-in-love Dwight Rose. Devoted husband of loving wife Lisa Marie (Rose) Hellams, happily married with no reservations, no retreats, and no regrets since taking marriage vows on December 24, 1991. Loving father of three children Nefertari (Kendrick) Wilson Taylors, SC; and Ursula  (Leon); Matthew Hellams {Jessica) Johnstown, PA. Grandfather of 7 grandchildren, Elaya, Arihanna, Elijah, Gabriel, Kyleigh, Carmelo, and Zane. Godchildren Chantal Jones, Teyvon Fields, Amari Chambers, and Journee Dillard. Also survived by brothers Robert Hellams Sr., Pelzer , SC, Nathaniel Hutley, Mauldin, SC., and sister Charlene Hellams Fant, Taylors, SC. Sisters-in-love Crystal Rose, and Denise Rose, special nieces Keisha Smith and Teah Dillard. With nieces, nephews, Uncle Frank Garrison, special cousins Jean Smith and Barry Wayne, special friends Raji Walker and Elder James Davis, and family and friends. A 1982 graduate of Riverside High School in Taylors, SC and a 2011 graduate of University of Phoenix with an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice. A military veteran of the United States Navy with 12 years of honorable active military service and 3 years of honorable active reserve service. A Gulf War Veteran and recipients of the Combat Action Ribbon, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal with two stars, and National Defense Service Medal. He was employed with the Department of Corrections at SCI Somerset since November 1999 and certified as a Journeyperson Corrections Officer One since January 2002 and retired February 2011. Accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at a young age, actively got involved with ministry as a Praise and Worship participant at the age of 35, and answered the call to preach the gospel at the age of 39. An Ordained licensed Minister since November 2002 and ordained Reverend since July 2006.

 A former Associate Reverend at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church of Johnstown, PA, having actively performed various ministerial duties, and exercising the gift of preaching the Gospel as a volunteer for Laurelwood Care Center of Johnstown, PA.

 Family and friends will be received Sunday July 7, 2024 at Enoree Baptist Church, 215 Augusta St, Greenville, SC from 4PM-6PM. 

Celebration of Life Services July 8, 2024 1PM at St. Matthew UMC, 2507 Rutherford Rd, Taylors, SC. Interment, Resthaven Memorial Gardens with military honors. In lieu of flowers, it is Reverend's request that you donate to your local ALS Association to find a cure for someone else in another lifetime.
