Sarah Davis

Mrs. Sarah Louise “Granny” Davis, 93, of Greenville, South Carolina, departed this life on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, at St. Francis Hospital Downtown. Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late Adoulph Hughes and Ethel Talley Hughes.

She was a member of the Mountain View Baptist Church, the Southernside Community Association and the Order of Eastern Star, Queen Esther Chapter #44.

The mother of thirteen children, five girls and eight boys. she was preceded in death by one daughter, Marilyn Moore. And three sons, Bobby L. Davis, William B. Davis, Jr., James R. Davis.


Left to cherish many fond and loving memories are four daughters, Jacqueline (Toy) Smith, Thonderleo (Bernard) Johnson, Brenda Phelps and Gloria Harris, all of Greenville; five sons, Jimmy (Loretta) Davis, Morris Davis, Paul (Eunice) Davis, Arthur (Lynn) Davis and Vinson Davis, all of Greenville; twenty-six grandchildren; fifty-five great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a nephew, James Johnson of Baltimore, MD; two daughters-in-law, Ann Davis and Mary Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
