Mrs. Sarah B. Thompson peacefully departed this life and entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 surrounded by her family.
She was born on June 11, 1923, in Greenville, South Carolina to Mr. William Brockman and Mrs. Betty Ladson Brockman. She was educated in the South Carolina Public School System.
Sarah met and married Samuel L. Thompson on September 9, 1943. Two children were born to this union. Sarah was a loyal lifetime member of Springfield Baptist Church in Greenville, South Carolina. She served on the Deaconess Board, the Flower Club, the Senior Choir and the Missionary Ministry until her health failed.
Sarah was employed at Piedmont Shirt Factory in her early work life. She was hired as a Quality Control Inspector at Union Carbide's Kemet Electronics
Division in 1972. She was a hard worker with a serious work ethic. She earned Perfect Attendance status for 22 consecutive years prior to her retirement.
Sarah was preceded in death by her loving husband, Samuel L. Thompson, her parents, Betty Ladson and Luther Brockman, four sisters and three brothers.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters; Sarah Blake-Curry (Eddie George) of Port Orange, FL and Hattye L. Perry (Joe L.) of Hampton, VA; four grandchildren, Lee R. Blake (Tashlyn) of Elkridge, MD and Erica Payne (Micah) of Silver Springs, MD; Anissa Gorham-Williams and Brian C. Smith both of Hampton, VA; two great-grandsons, Mikale Gorham and Anfernee Gorham of Hampton, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
