SFC Fincher Stewart, Jr., USA, Ret., 84, departed this life on Tuesday, March 8, 2016. Born in Gaffney, he was the son of the late Fincher Stewart, Sr. and Lillie Mae Corry Stewart. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary L. Stewart.

Mr. Fincher was retired from the Air Force and Army. While serving his country he received numerous medals and awards: Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Parachutist Badge, Air Medal, Aircraft Crewman Badge, Master Aircraft Crewman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Bronze Star Medal.

Surviving: daughters, Brenda F. Stewart, Finchetta (Richard) Stewart, and Linda G. Harris, all of Greenville; sons, CPT Thomas E. Stewart, USA Ret., of Stockbridge, GA and Mark A. (Doris) Stewart; sisters, Shirley J. Deer of Florida, Barbara A. Stewart of North Carolina, and Peggy L. Wallace of North Carolina; brother, David Stewart of Florida; grandchildren, Anthony Stewart, Qadir W. Williams, Dollie M. Jones, Richard B. Montgomery, Jr., Tariana Stewart, Mark A. Stewart, Jr. and Noah Stewart; nine great-grandchildren, two great-great- grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
