Today we gather to celebrate the precious life of Ms. Sherri Caroline Pitts. Sherri was born on April 29, 1973, in Greenville, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Deacon William Robert Pitts, Jr. and Bertha L. Adams Pitts.
Sherri attended Bakers Chapel Elementary, Tanglewood Middle, and was a 1992 graduate of Carolina High School. Sherri also attended Greenville Technical College for two years where she majored in Criminal Justice.
Sherri dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and served faithfully in God’s vineyard. She was a very dedicated member of the Cold Spring Missionary Baptist Church in Pickens, South Carolina, from childhood until God called her home. Over the many years, Sherri worked with several ministries including serving as Sunday School Superintendent.
Sherri loved to play basketball with her nephews, nieces, and grandnephews. Sherri would get excited whenever Jayvyn, Steven, or Jacob came over because she knew that they would shoot ball with her. She also loved her pets. The kittens could sense when Sherri wasn’t feeling well and would sit on the window sill and watch her. Amazingly, even the chicks would follow Sherri around the yard, yet run from everyone else.
Sherri leaves to cherish fond memories: her mother, Bertha Pitts of Greenville; one sister, Sandra (Rev. Curtis) Zachery of Simpsonville; four brothers, William E. (Diane) Pitts of Lyman, Winfred N. Pitts of Rock Hill, Gary W. Pitts of Greenville, and Richard A. (Hattie) Pitts of Powdersville; three nephews, Derrick (Tiffany) Hopkins, Brandon and Andrew Hopkins; three nieces, Candice Johnson, Shana Jones, and Andrea Epps; three great-nephews, Jayvyn Montgomery, Jacob Ricketts, and Sincere Epps; aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, neighbors, and close family friends.
Sherri was predeceased by her Aunt Geneva Adams Bowens whom she deeply loved and cherished.
