Sylvia Ross

Mrs. Sylvia Rose “Sunshine” Ross, 59, of Piedmont, South Carolina, departed this life on Thursday, August 17, 2017, at Greenville Health System. She was a daughter of the late George Washington and Helen Louise Jackson Washington.

She was a graduate of Woodmont High School and formerly worked at McDonald’s Restaurant.

She was a member of St. Matthew Baptist Church, where she served as a member of the Freedom Outreach Ministry, the Prison Ministry and the Usher Board.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, George Curtis Washington.

Left to cherish many fond memories are one son, Clarence Lamont Thurmond of Piedmont, SC; four sisters, Helen (Andrew) Caldwell of Piedmont, SC, Mary McGreer of Simpsonville, SC, Vanessa Mosely of Greenville, SC, and Elizabeth Logan of Fountain Inn, SC; four grandchildren, Ashanti Edwards of Piedmont, SC; Jemiyus Thurmond, JeAngelo Thurmond and De’Shara Thurmond, all of Greenville, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
