A Life to be Remembered
For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:6-7

On Monday, August 26, 2019, Theodore “Lamar” Sherman passed into a “new life” at his home in Lilburn, Georgia.

Lamar was born in Greer, South Carolina, to the Late Theodore “Felt” and Yvonne Wood Sherman on February 13, 1962. He graduated from Greer High School in 1980, where he was a two-time State Championship Wrestler and a two-time All- Conference and All-State selection in football. He went to East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee on both football and wrestling scholarships and graduated from that University in 1984.

Lamar was a life long member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Pelham, South Carolina, and also a member of Victory Church in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a devoted and loving husband, son, brother, uncle, nephew and friend.

In 1985, he started his career working in Productions at WJHL television in Johnson City, Tennessee, then later at WYCB television in Bristol,Tennessee, before relocating to Seattle, Washington. After arriving in Seattle, Washington, he went to work for Sears and Roebuck before joining the Macys (Federated) family. He later received a new position as Director of Operations and relocated to Atlanta, Georgia. In January 2014, he joined the TJ Maxx family as Area Operations Manager.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, fraternity brothers and friends. His passions were playing golf, spending time with his golf buddies, and working with his various charities. He also took great pleasure in making people laugh through his many shenanigans!

Precious memories will be forever cherished by his wife, Sherise Sherman of Lilburn, Georgia; his brother, Sidney (Karen) Sherman of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; a godbrother, Rodney “Van” (Gwendolyn) Brooks, of Greenville, South Carolina; his niece, Cara Sherman of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; a nephew, Blair Sherman of Newport News, Virginia; two brothers-in-law, Eddie (Stephanie) Ray of Denver, Colorado, and Bobby (Cheryl) Slade of Lincoln, Nebraska; a sister-in-law, Marketta Slade of Denver, Colorado; many beloved aunts and uncles; and a host of other relatives and friends.
