Valeria Phillips

October 9, 1970 — April 4, 2019

Valeria Montrez Phillips (affectionately known as “Tracey” to her family and close friends, and “Val” to most of her co-workers and the patients she served), was born at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City on October 09, 1970, to Larry and Ruby Phillips.  She attended public schools in New York City.  After high school, she attended LaGuardia Community College, Allen School of Nursing, and VEEB School of Practical Nursing where she completed the prescribed course of study for Practical Nursing in 2005.  In March 2006, she was issued her license to practice nursing in New York State by the NYS Division of Professional Licensing Service. She relocated to South Carolina in 2007 and obtained a multi-state license from the SC State Board of Nursing authorizing her to practice nursing in SC, NC, and GA.

Valeria grew up in church and even after leaving home to live on her own she was frequently found in church on Sunday mornings. In 2012, she confessed the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior and continued her fellowship in the Lord at Vision of Victory Temple, in Mauldin, where she served on the Communion Committee, as Sunday School Secretary/Recorder of Minutes, Worship Leader, and Soloist.  At the time of her passing, she was employed as the Health and Wellness Director at Brookdale of Easley.  Her life priorities were God first, family second, job third, and everything else came afterwards.  Her commitment to God, family, and job was without question, and sacrifices were always a huge part of her life.

Valeria departed this life victoriously in Christ Jesus on April 4, 2019.  Leaving this present world and her body ravished by pain and suffering, she was ushered into a new life on the celestial shores of heaven to be present with the Lord – where the suffering of this life cannot follow.  She leaves to mourn, her daughter, Breana Phillips (Scott Anderson, father); her mother and father, Elders Larry and Ruby Phillips; her sister, Sonya; a brother, Larry L. Phillips, II; six nephews, Corey, Brandin, Kimani, Darius Jayden, and Kulin; one niece, Krystle; one great-niece, Amyiah; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, co-workers, friends, and church family.
