Mrs. Vera Lee Brooks McIntyre, 92, of Greenville, South Carolina, was born on December 21, 1924. She was a daughter of the late Willie and Dora Jones Brooks.
At an early age, she joined Saint Matthew United Methodist Church, where she served and participated in many facets of the church including: the United Methodist Women, the Adult Choir, Sunday School, the Hospitality Committee, Communion Steward, Wesleyan Service Guild, Women’s Society of Christian Service, Older Adults, Church Board, Pastor Parish Relation Committee (PPRC), Building and Fund Raising Committees, Youth Advisor and Renovation Committee.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of forty - three years, Perry McIntyre; brothers, Eugene Brooks, Earl Brooks, Henry Brooks, Julius Brooks and Arthur Brooks; sisters, Frances Brooks White, Eloise Brooks Williams and Annie Brooks Lyles; grandson, Dr. Kevin J. Robinson; great-grandchildren, Joshua K. McIntyre and Brenda “PJ” Robinson and a number of nieces and nephews.
She leaves to cherish dear memories, her sons, Bahbi J. Makenta of Washington, DC, Terry L. (Bertha) McIntyre of Easley, Jerry L. (Deborah) McIntyre of Logansville, GA, and Thomas E. McIntyre of Greenville, SC; grandsons, Reginald McIntyre, Aaron McIntyre, both of Greenville, SC and Christopher Robinson of Piedmont, SC; grand-daughters, Fatima (Alexander) Ruffin and Nefertti Makenta of Washington, DC, Leticia McIntyre, Africa McIntyre and Ebony Sullivan, both of Greenville, SC, Tamara (Harold) Montgomery of Piedmont, SC and Levette Arnold of Houston, TX; twenty-two great-grand-children; niece, Sherlene (James) Brooks of Simpsonville, SC; nephews, Nathaniel (Jean) Fryer, Walter Lyles, Sr., James Calvin Austin, all of Greenville, SC, Willie Lewis Fryer of Connecticut and Eli White of Greer, SC and a host of other relatives and friends.
