Virda Mae Hughes Carr

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two  daughters, Millicent Hughes Davis and Mongela Blassingame, a granddaughter, Alexa Carr. 

Mrs. Carr attended Golden Grove and Athens Elementary School in Travelers Rest, South Carolina. She was a 1961 graduate of Lincoln High School in Taylors, South Carolina where she played basketball, softball and ran track.

Left to cherish her fond memories are her four sons, Fredrick Carr and Phillip Carr (Kim) both of Travelers Rest, SC, Antonio Carr (Von) of Marietta, SC and Ellis Carr (Chasity) of Easley, SC; ; three sisters, Willie Cox of Travelers Rest, SC, Rosella Gertrude Gray, and Juanita Latimore both of Greenville, SC; two brothers, Walter Hughes, Jr. (Linda) of Greenville, SC and Maurice Hughes of Rural Hall, NC; seventeen grandchildren including Braylon Hughes, Andre’ Davis and Sergio Carr who were reared in the home; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Funeral Services: Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at 2:00pm, at Watkins, Garrett and Woods Mortuary, with interment in St. John United Methodist Church Cemetery.
