Deacon William Henry “Hamp” Hampton, Jr. 57, of Greenville, South Carolina, passed on Monday, November 25, 2019, at Prisma Health Upstate. He was a son of William Sr. and Lydia Makins Hampton.
He was a graduate of J L Mann High School and also he attended Greenville Technical College. He was employed at Augusta Circle Elementary School. He was a member of Holy Ground Church of Deliverance. He was a drummer for HAMP Gospel Group.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dwight David Hampton and John Fitzgerald Hampton.
Surviving along with his parents are two sons, William Henry Hampton III and Stephen Paul Hampton, both of Greenville, SC; three sisters, Sherry Gray, Stephanie Hampton and Lydia Hampton-Wansley, all of Greenville, SC; three brothers, Benjamin C. Hampton of Taylors, SC, Anthony (Angela) Hampton of Powdersville, SC, and Stephen Hampton of Travelers Rest, SC; two aunts, Mildred Ellis of Glendale, MD and Frankie Wright of Greenville, SC; two great aunts, Mary Yates of Leesburg, VA and Patricia Carter of Greenville, SC; three uncles, Furman Makins of Anderson, SC, Glenn Ellis of Glendale, MD and Kenneth Wright of Greenville, SC; godbrothers, Frederick Bland of Atlanta, GA, and Dana Bailey of Florida; a special friend, Mary Hampton; and a host of other relatives and friends.
