Rev. William Howard “Honey Bee” Jones Sr., 82, of Greenville, South Carolina, departed this life on Saturday, August 4, 2018, at St. Francis Hospital Downtown. He was born on December 19, 1935, in Anderson County, South Carolina, a son of the late Wayne and Margie Lovelace Jones.
Rev. Jones attended Taylors High School and later earned his G.E.D. at 70 years of age. He formerly served as Pastor of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. He was a faithful member of Saint Matthew United Methodist Church for many years. He was a member of the United Methodist Men, Adult Sunday School Teacher, Past President of Older Adults and a Lay Speaker. He also attended W.E.L. Bible Study at John Wesley UMC.
He retired from Roadway Express Trucking after 32 years with over 2 million miles accomplished. Rev. Jones was a Life Member of Shekinah Masonic Lodge #105, where he served as the Senior Warden and Chaplain for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Margie Jones; wife, Bobbie Jean Williams Jones; brothers, Wayne Kermet Jones and Milford Javan Jones; a sister, Patricia Lee Jones; daughters, Jennifer Jones and Patricia Diane Jones Watts; and sons, Ronnie C. Jones and Donnie D. Jones.
Left to treasure his memories are his brother, John Douglas (Freddie) Jones; sons, William Howard Jones, Jr., Michael L. (Jean) Jones and Andre L. (Krystal) Strickland; a daughter-in-law, Leslie C. Jones; a grandson whom he raised, Patrick L. (Andrea) Jones, Sr.; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two nieces; a special friend, Heartie Ferguson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
