Mr. William “Bill", "Simp” Simpson, 82, of Greenville, South Carolina, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Mary View Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia. He was a son of the late Albert Simpson, Sr., and Luegenia Gwinn Simpson, and the husband of the late Peggy Jean Blassingame Simpson for fifty-three years.
Mr. Simpson attended Sterling High School and he graduated from Greenville High School. He joined the United States Army at an early and he later transferred the Army Reserved where served his country faith-fully for 32 years. Mr. Simpson also retired from Homelite Company. He joined Mountain View Baptist Church at an early age and later joined New Beginning United Methodist Church, where he served as a trustee. He was a member of the Sterling Class of 1954 Reunion, and a member of the Masonry Fraternal Organization.
Mr. Simpson was a loving caring husband, father, grandfather, and a brother who was devoted to his family and the Lord. He was an excellent debater, bid whist player, swing dancer, and a world traveler.

of Suffolk, VA; one son, Wiljaris K. Simpson of Greenville, SC; six grandchildren,Shanavia Warfield, First Lt. Dale Warfield, Shadai Sims of Suffolk, VA, Ky’Ondrea Simpson, Alayna Simpson, and Saniyah Simpson of Greenville, SC; two great-grandchildren, Khamari Taylor and Nylah Sims of Suffolk, VA; three sisters, Mae Bell (Odell) Cruel, Betty Thompson and Bobbie Mobley of Greenville, SC; one brother, Albert (Leola) Simpson, six sisters-in-law, Effie Mae Simpson of Travelers Rest, SC, Pat Simpson of Hineville, GA, Betty J. Graves of Detroit, MI, Mary McGowens of Travelers Rest, SC, Carolyn Blassingame of Bronx, NY, and Perlean Phillips of Winston Salem, NC; one brother-in-law, Edward Blassingame of Detroit, MI; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Simpson was preceded in death by three brothers, Bishop Alfred Simpson, Arthur Simpson, and Joseph Simpson.
