Mr. Willie Otis “Tree Climber” Suber, 88, of 301 Idlewild Avenue, Greenville, South Carolina, passed on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at home. He was a son of the late Earl and Earlie Putman Suber.
He was employed at Palmetto Loom and Reed Company. He was the oldest member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Fountain Inn, South Carolina, where Rev. Samuel Flint, is the Pastor. He was also the oldest member of Mt. Zion All Male Chorus. He had joined Mt. Zion at an early age and remained faithful until his health failed .
His favorite scripture was John 3:16; the song that warmed his heart was Nearer My God to Thee. He was deeply loved, and he knew it’s not how long you’ve lived, but the service you have given to others. Love had left its trace in his peacefulness, the glow of deep contentment in his eyes and in his daily living, he accepted what God had planned and left tomorrow in His gracious hands.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Suber, Jr., and John Arthur Suber.
Left to cherish many fond and loving memories are his wife, Naomi Ruth Baker Suber of the home; one daughter, Joyce Goldsmith of Greenville; two sons, Otto Julius (Vivian) Baker and Ron (Sherry) Suber, both of Greenville; three sisters, Marge Wynn of Douglasville, GA, Lizzette Harpe of Simpsonville, and Lois Allen of Greenville; one brother, Charles (Beverly) Suber of Greenville; a special sister-in-law, Joanne Suber of Greenville; one aunt, Callie Mae Seaton of Detroit, MI; one uncle, Earskin Putman of Detroit, MI; two grandchildren, Jermaine Samuel and Gavin Goldsmith; two great-grandchildren, Totiyonna Samuel and Courtney Jermaine Samuel; and a host of other relatives and friends.
