Withrow Brookins

Mr. Withrow John “Granny” Brookins was born on December 15, 1928, and departed this life on Thursday, October 13, 2016, at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville, South Carolina. He resided at 106 Turner Street in Easley, South Carolina.

Withrow was the son of the late Reese and Mary Brookins, he was raised in Easley, South Carolina. Withrow served in the US Army and retired from Alice Manufacturing Co. He was a skilled barber, and could always be found cleaning hair clippers. He loved watching baseball, dancing, playing cards and enjoyed being outdoors.

Withrow was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Hill Brookins; a son, Randy Lee Hill; a daughter, Cathy Ann Stewart; a special niece, Virgie Coleman and numerous sisters and brothers.

He was survived by his daughter and caregiver, Cynthia M Hutchens; son, Gregory D Brookins; sister-in-law, Julia S Brookins; son-in-law, Wilbert Stewart; six grandchildren, Tamika Brookins, Calet Hutchens, Sha (Craig) Hunter II, Randy (Lamecka) Hill Jr., Jonathan Stewart, Javoy Stewart, Chevis Anderson; fifteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
