Zachary Smith

January 17, 1991 — February 8, 2016

Mr. Zachary Cory “Zach” Smith, 25, of 814 Brooks Road, Mauldin, passed away on Monday, February 8, 2016, at home. Born in Greenville, he was the son of Jacquelyn L. Smith (Ben) Boatwright.

“Zach” was a Woodmont High School graduate, he was a stand-out in Special Olympics, including leading the Woodmont High Unified Volleyball Team to a State Championship by winning the Gold Medal in 2010, 2011, and 2012. Zach was the team manager for the Woodmont High Varsity Girls Basketball Team, 2008-2010. He was the team manager for the Greenville Titans Junior College Basketball Team,  2012-2014.

He was employed at Next Level Barbershop for over five years and the Hollis Center. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Williamston.

Zach loved to dress-up, he wanted to look nice at all times, his mild manner and kindness was infectious to others.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Oddsia Smith, great grandparents and uncles.

Surviving, in addition to his mother, grandmother, Mary L. Smith of the home; sister, Leddisa Smith of Greenville; brother, Markeith Smith of Greenville; aunts, Brenda and Janet Evans, both of Greenville; uncles, Anthony Smith of Greenville, Ansel Smith of Mauldin and Bobby (Mamie) Clinkscales of Williamston and a host of other relatives and friends.
